short update
Life has been nice recently, making tough to realize that the outside world is getting worse and worse. It’s a constant cognitive dissonance that is hard being confronted to. But being from a wealthy country, living in another wealthy one, and being aware of everything happening in the world right now creates this cognitive dissonance, whether you want it or not.
I haven’t come to write much because I’ve been so busy and nothing has changed, really. Just another year slipping by unnoticed. But at least I’ve been feeling good again about what I’m doing.
I’m fearing a bit the post-COP crash. Usually, when climate talks wrap up, I start feeling this heavy emptiness. I felt it last year, more than ever. And it made me question to my bones if what I do is actually meaningful, when I was already struggling thinking about my career and the future. It took me months to find purpose again. And now I keep hearing that multilateralism is not dead, so I think maybe I’m actually in the right place and I’m not done yet. Just maybe. And what would I do anyway if not that? (Still the big question that never leaves…)
Now, I just got back from New York after Climate Week, where I had the most amazing time and I do feel energized again, even though the circles are small and we are still not fully breaking the silos. But the momentum is there, and maybe not everything is lost. So I do have hope. But I’m scared COP30 could crash that hope again. Beyond climate, the world feels like it’s unraveling. Governments are breaking down, the far right is rising everywhere, and too many people retreating into indifference. And when people don’t care enough to have an opinion, I wonder how they can — apolitical is not a thing anymore. Being apolitical is being political, you’re taking a side if you’re not. Chosing not to care is also a choice.
Anyway, I am not entirely sure where I meant go with this, but I thought it was time to give an update before everyone actually forgets I write here at all.
You know what the dream would be? A cute little cafe bookstore of my own in a big city of my choice. Just living among books and enjoying the city life.
Now, where is my rich future husband?
